This Southern twist on the classic Minnesota burger starts with a toasted Pretzilla Burger Bun topped with a pimiento cheese stuffed burger. Cool Carolina-style red slaw and candied applewood smoked bacon top off this amazing burger.
CAROLINA RED SLAW:
Combine mayonnaise, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, sugar, hot sauce, kosher salt and black pepper in a large mixing bowl and mix thoroughly.
Add shredded cabbage and gently toss. Set aside in refrigerator.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
PIMIENTO CHEESE SPREAD:
Combine cheddar cheese, cream cheese, pimiento, mayonnaise and red pepper flakes in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment and mix on medium speed for 2 minutes or until smooth. Set aside in refrigerator.
CANDIED BACON:
Arrange bacon on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake 10 minutes. Remove from oven and evenly sprinkle brown sugar on each slice. Bake 5-7 min or until caramelized and crisp.
BURGERS:
Divide and form ground beef into eight 4-ounce patties ¼-inch thick. Season with salt and pepper.
Place 2 tablespoons Cheese Spread in center of four patties and top with remaining patties. Pinch around the edges to seal.
Cut Pretzilla Burger Buns in half horizontally and place cut side up on a baking sheet. Place in oven 5-7 minutes or until lightly toasted.
Heat oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat.
Add stuffed burger patties and cook 5-6 minutes per side or until medium or desired doneness.
Place burger on the toasted bun and top with 2 slices bacon and Carolina Slaw. Close sandwich and serve.
