This classic Wisconsin-inspired burger starts with a freshly toasted Pretzilla Burger Bun and a juicy griddled bratwurst patty. Top it off with creamy cheddar spread, caramelized onions, and pickled hot peppers.
CARAMELIZED ONIONS:
Heat oil in a medium sauté pan over medium heat.
Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, 10-15 minutes or until brown. Add 2 tablespoons of water, stir and continue cooking until dry. Set aside.
BURGERS:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Divide the bratwurst into four ½-inch thick patties.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large sauté pan over medium-high heat.
Add brat burgers to the pan and cook 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown and fully cooked.
While burgers are cooking, cut Pretzilla Burger Buns in half horizontally and place cut side up on a baking sheet. Place in oven 5-7 minutes or until lightly toasted.
Spread 2 tablespoons cheese spread on each bottom bun and place brat patty on top.
Distribute the caramelized onions and cherry peppers evenly on the burgers.
Close sandwich and serve.
For a bolder burger, mix 2 tablespoons of prepared horseradish into the cheese spread.
